Overview
We have been repeatedly rejected by Google Play (even after being approved) citing the same subscription policy every time. With each rejection, the review team provides a screenshot of our app’s subscription modal without specifically telling us what part of the policy we don’t comply with.
We are a couple weeks away from launch, and this is blocking our pre-registration marketing event, and the pattern of rejecting a build that was previously approved is very concerning to us.
Timeline
- July 19th: Appeal: Submitted appeal 0-2874000036394
- July 19: Rejected: issue unknown. This is the only screenshot that was attached with the generic subscription policy
- July 18: Rejected: monthly sub in INR should be recurring since it’s < 5000 INR. Fixed.
- July 17: Rejected: yearly sub in INR incorrectly says it’s recurring in the app. Fixed.
- July 15: Rejected: submitted existing prod build and they rejected it. Had to guess what to fix and fixed the language for INR subs being non-recurring.
- July 12th: Rejected: We submitted an open testing version and it was rejected because of our production app’s subscription policy. We did not change anything on this screen.
- July 11th: Approved: We submitted an open testing version v62 and it was approved
- July 3rd: Approved: Our production build v59 was approved and restored on Play Store again. This also unblocked us from using Open Testing.
- June 28th: Rejected: Submitted v58 and was also rejected due to a bug in our code on the subscription screen
- June 24th: Appeal: Submitted appeal 1-6321000036145
- June 23rd: Rejected & Removed: Our production app was rejected and suddenly removed from the Play store entirely. This took down our Open Testing track as well and blocked us entirely.
- June 22nd: Approved: We didn’t change anything and submitted our Open Testing build v55 for review. This bundled our existing v54 production build together and during review it was approved too and went live on PlayStore in NZ.
- June 20th: Rejected: We submitted build v54 and it was rejected due to our subscription policy
Ask
We believe that we are in compliance, and if not, we would like to understand specifically what we need to fix. We receive the same generic message each time.
